One Little Soul

Losing someone is hard.  I wrote this poem for my mother after she put her little schnauzer down.  This week, our family says goodbye to another wonderful dog, Benny.  I think that this poem will speak to anyone who has experienced loss.

           One Little Soul

One little soul enters your life

One little soul stays

You wonder how this soul fills yours with love

You hope it will never go away

One little soul occupies your day

One little soul plays

You wonder how this soul became your life

You hope it will never go away

One little soul grows old

One little soul leaves

You wonder how you’ll live without that one little soul

The love will never go away
